The Igloo

Wayyyyy back in January we spent a ridiculous amount of time building an igloo on a Saturday when we had about 3 inches of snow fall.

Beginning

Middle
Almost there!

Finito!

Everyone (but me) inside the Igloo

Three little snow bunnies

The big girls wanted to sleep in it that night.
They even took out blankets and a flashlight with Roy and sat inside.

Melting took about 36 hours and then there was no evidence of all that hard work.
Other than my sore back, legs, hands.......building an igloo is no joke!

Snow Day!

This Wednesday the forcast was actually correct (for a change) and we got some snow! Normally I could care less about the white stuff...it only reminds me more how cold it is outside...but with a toddler something inside me was just wishing fro the stuff to fall this year. We have been getting a snowstorm through the area about once a week lately, but we never get any to stick! So when it started falling....and sticking....I had my fingers crossed for enough accumulation to play in. The picture below is me asking Kinsey what's on the ground....her 'I dunno' arms.
I made her a snowball to throw...

It didn't go too far.

She was happy as a penguin outside....stomping in the snow (stomping is her favorite thing to do!)
Not too deep, but enough to play in!
It stuck to her gloves.....the whole minute she actually kept them on.
And lastly...yes.....it does taste mighty good....this girl couldn't get enough of it once she figured out it was edible and mommy said ok. (oh, and as a side note: I don't normally put a scarf on her...I know it isn't safe, but she was screaming for the scarf...I couldn't say no)

A Case Of The Winter Blahs

Today it is snowy....just like the past 3 Thursdays have been. But here in the city snow doesn't mean snow days, snowmen or sledding- but slushy wet snow that doesn't stick and just makes puddles. Puddles my toddler gravitates to when we go outside.

Normally I would stay inside- dry and warm, but with a toddler as bossy as mine, you can only tell her "no going outside today" so many times before meltdown occurs. Thus meaning the inevitable wet boots, socks, and pant hems, along with a red nose and freezing hands (she will not keep the gloves on...big surprise) Oh, and did I mention I hate the cold? When does spring arrive?

I've got a case of the winter blah's....and no way to go on a vacation to the tropics.
