Recycled Crayon Storage + a FREE printable

Today I'm sharing a free craft,
that like most of my other DIY/Printables
is designed to help keep your home better organized.

This is a craft I made about 6 months ago,
and so far it is holding up great and getting daily use from my 2 girls!

This one is simple- I know it's not a *new* idea, but it is a *cute* and *free* idea.
Both of which make me very happy!

1. Take a large plastic container and clean it out
(I used a Costco Animal Crackers bin,
but Target has similar animal cracker and cheese ball containers
 if you aren't a member of a Costco/Sam's Club)
This is a great size for LOTS of crayons & the lid screws on tight

2. My Rainbow Chevron 'Crayons' label downloaded for free
(I recommend printing on cardstock
and printing a front and back copy,
mostly because I was too lazy to scrape the old labels off
and I needed to cover both sides!)

3. Scissors and Packaging Tape

Cut label to desired size and tape in layers on the entire surface
(so the label is almost 'laminated' on)

Fill with crayons, give the kids some paper and CREATE!!!

What ways do you often re-use old plastic containers? Leave a comment and share!

New Purse

This week I have been feeling crafty....

not like any other week really....

but this week I actually got something accomplished!

I am always making things for Kinsey, dresses, hair clips, etc. It was time to make something for me.

Never have I made a purse, so this project was a little daunting. But I didn't let myself get scared...what's the worst that could happen? a waste of time, money, and effort...but I'd never tell anyone!

So today I ventured to the fabric store with toddler in tow....

hmmmm....stressful anyone?

After numerous bolts of fabric were flung on the floor and misplaced we managed to escape with some cute fabric! Let me just mention here that I LOVE the fabric store, it is right up there with Target and Costco on places that I buy way too much stuff at and should generally be supervised at (and not by a toddler).

After said toddler was napping peacefully....oh so peacefully.....I rushed to finish my project.

Here it is....what do you think?

I really love it, except I think it needs to be much, much bigger. I am a mom you know! I really don't think they'll respect me as a mom at the park if I don't carry a huge bag, they'll think I'm just the nanny!

Next week I just might have to venture to the fabric store again to buy some more fabric and make a 'mom-sized' purse.

There's a beaver living in my house......

.......or at least that is one explanation for this:

The other explanation would be that my toddler seems to have taken an interest in wood as a midnight snack. These chew marks all appeared one night after the next last week. Now I know why they sell cribs with special 'teething rails'. Little stinker ruining her crib!

So to hopefully prevent any further damages, I came up with this:

A sort of teething bumper for her crib rail. So far she hasn't chewed through it!

I also took the time to make a quick pillowcase for her in matching pink polka dots. Both projects took less than 1 hour to complete!

Here's to sweet dreams for my little beaver!

Oh, and a peek at my next project.......

what will this super cute fabric be?????

New Stuff on Etsy

I am finally getting around to finishing up some jewelry, mainly so I can take it down to the gallery in Silver City this weekend, but I thought I would post some on Etsy for a change. I am currently in love with copper, I don't know if it is 'trendy' right now, but I love it anyway (plus it really makes me feel like fall- all those warm tones remind me of falling autumn leaves). So here is a peek

New line coming soon to Etsy.com

I am pleased to announce the new line of hand painted items coming soon to my Etsy.com store. Hair accessory storage! Perfect for little girls and big girls too, these plastic boxes are hand painted with a name and choice of design and then trimmed in coordinating ribbon. Perfect for keeping little hands out of little rubber bands (as is the case in my house), or for organizing all those little clips and bows to make getting ready for school a breeze. Please check my store for more info http://serenitydesigns1.etsy.com/

Finally some sales!

I know the economy is in the dumps right now, so starting a business venture with items that are not necessities is maybe not the greatest idea, but it is just a hobby anyway. I've been trying not to get too discouraged since I haven't had any sales online, just a few jewelry sales in a gallery. But this week I got some good news - I finally sold two piggy banks! Here are the designs commissioned, hope the buyers like!
